Psychotherapy
Therapy is a process where you can gain a deeper insight into how you see yourself and others and how you might sense others relate to you. These patterns are learned through relationship with others, and understanding these patterns can be best understood with someone by your side.
Much of the emotional life of people is kept private, through habit, fear, shame, and a multiplicity of other cultural and individual factors, which seek to deny the importance and prevalence of feelings.
You may want help to find your way through something you can name, or it may be something that doesn't yet have words.
Why psychotherapy rather than counselling?
Counselling typically addresses specific, short-term issues you're facing right now, helping you become more emotionally resilient. Psychotherapy delves deeper into understanding yourself by exploring both past and present experiences to uncover and address the root causes of recurring problems, helping you transform how you navigate the world, it tends to be a longer process
Practical questions
Sessions are 50 mins and once weekly, at the same time each week. My fee is determined by my training organisation and is in the region of £30 - £50 per session, depending on circumstances.
To arrange an initial consultation, please apply through my training organisation on their website. You will see the availability for Stroud there.
Please note that there is a fee of £30 for this process. You will be offered a consultation with a senior therapist. This will provide you with an opportunity to explore your needs and readiness for once weekly therapy. The fee for this consultation is £90 and if two meetings are required the total cost will be £130.
This payment is made directly to the therapist offering you this assessment consultation appointment.
If we do work together, your session time is kept for you, so I charge for sessions when I am working, even if you do not come for whatever reason.
I take breaks as follows: 1 week in June and August, 2 weeks at Christmas. Bank holidays are not available. I provide the dates well in advance.
Qualifications and experience
I have trained with the British Psychotherapy Foundation since 2021 and am supervised weekly.
